As a nonverbal tool, clothing was a powerful means to express various kinds of identity, reflecting the gender, social status, and ethnicity of the wearer. The most obvious distinction of Egyptian clothing is its division into royal and non-royal.

Here is a surprise to many. The high-quality Egyptian cotton that is so popular the world over was not even available in ancient Egypt. So what did the ancient Egyptians wear?
